That monitor also has USB ports (the kind into which you plug USB devices), so I plug my keyboard and mouse into those. My most recent monitor has a USB type C port as well. I had bought the dock just for that.My last two laptops have had the new larger USB type C port (not the ports into which you plug USB devices such as mice, but a port like those typically at the bottom of a droid phone). I want to thank again u/mrp_yt for sending me his Windows Lumia phone, without hesitation, and thus helping me out to make the HD500 work with Dex.
Make sure you do follow the instructions and do not disconnect it before the app prompts you to.Īnd after that, once you have Continuum working, you can connect your Samsung device Dex compatible and, there you go, the HD500 working with Dex.
You can acccept the proposal and after some seconds it will prompt you to disconnect the power cable from the dock and plug it in again. It will prompt you to update it to the latest version (v4). Once the "Gadgets" app updated, you can open it and it will detect the HD500 dock. Bear in mind you will need to configure a Microsoft account (at least I had to). To update the app, just go the "Store" app and update it. But before doing that, you need to make sure you have at least version. To update the dock, you need to use the app "Gadgets" in the Windows Phone.
I had to go through some preparation steps, and this is why I shared them with you guys. Unfortunately, some of the docks you can get in the market do not have the latest firmaware (v4) and come with a previous one (v3), which is not compatible with Dex.Īfter trying to update the dock using a Windows machine, without success, I managed to get a Microsoft Lumia 950XL, thanks to u/mrp_yt who sent me his phone, I managed to perform the update. I bought the HD500 (made for Windows Phone and its Continuum functionality) to use it with Samsung Dex.
